It has been proposed that since the satellite Earth station at United Nations Headquarters is the only part of the United Nations global satellite network that is operated by the Information Technology Services Division of the Department of Management, it would be more efficient if the management of the station were to be taken over by the Department of Peacekeeping Operations so that it could be incorporated into the management structure as part of the teleport and the future global network management facility at site B
