Thomas zusammen mit anderen Glaubenslehrern diejenige Sünde tödlich, die eine ewige Strafe nach sich zieht, wenn sie nicht zuvor vergeben wird; läßlich nennt er die Sünde, die eine einfache zeitliche Strafe verdient, das heißt eine begrenzte Strafe, die auf Erden oder im Fegfeuer abgebüßt werden kann.
