The glyceollin constituting the active ingredient of the present invention promotes breakdown of the Runx2 protein in osteoblasts, reduces the Rankl mRNA level and so suppresses the differentiation of osteoclasts, and has greatly alleviated the signs of osteoporosis in an animal model of osteoporosis induced by the administration of a large dose of vitamin D.
