Urartu (/ʊˈrɑːrtuː/), which corresponds to the biblical mountains of Ararat, is the name of a geographical region commonly used as the exonym for the Iron Age kingdom also known by the modern rendition of its endonym, the Kingdom of Van, centered around Lake Van in the Armenian Highlands.

Urartu névetimológiája megegyezik a bibliai Araráttal (’arārāt).[4] Az urartu megnevezés asszír eredetű, és az Örmény-felföldre vonatkozik a Van-tó és a Szeván-tó között, ezért feltehetőleg a hegy kapta a nevét Urarturól, és nem fordítva.
