This area of the Bogotá plain had at that time a series of small lakes and canyons which made possible the transportation of its inhabitants by canoe, by means of which the inhabitants of Nemocón, Gachancipá, and Tocancipá reached Chicaquicha in order to seek supplies of salt which they traded for pottery and tiles.

Esta zona de la Sabana de Bogotá era surcada en aquella época por una sucesión de pequeños lagos y arroyos, que permitían el transporte de sus habitantes en canoas, medio por el cual los habitantes de Nemocón, Gachancipá, Tocancipá, Cajicá y Chía llegaban a Chicaquicha para abastecerse de la preciada sal, que intercambiaban por vasijas y tejidos.
