বাধ্যতামূলক বা প্রাথমিক কর্তব্য হচ্ছে: কৃষকদের মধ্যে বণ্টনের জন্য গোটা বাংলাদেশে বাণিজ্যিক ভিত্তিতে অত্যাবশ্যকীয় কৃষি উপকরণ যেমন বীজ, সার, উদ্ভিদ-সংরক্ষণ যন্ত্রপাতি, কীটনাশক, কৃষি-যন্ত্রপাতি প্রভৃতি সংগ্রহ, পরিবহণ, গুদামজাতকরণ ও সরবরাহের যথাযোগ্য ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ. সমবায় সমিতি গঠনে উৎসাহ যোগানো, যাতে পর্যায়ভিত্তিক কর্মসূচি অনুযায়ী এর সরবরাহ কার্যক্রমগুলির জন্য হস্তান্তর করা যায়. অন্যান্য যেসব ক্ষেত্রে কর্পোরেশন আগ্রহী সেসব ক্ষেত্রে সমবায় সমিতি গঠনে উৎসাহ যোগানো. বীজ উৎপাদন ও পশুপ্রজনন খামার এবং ফলের নার্সারির দায়িত্ব গ্রহণ ও ব্যবস্থাপনা এবং উন্নতমানের কৃষি যন্ত্রপাতি ও সাজ-সরঞ্জাম তৈরিতে সহায়তা ও উৎসাহ প্রদান।

The mandatory or primary functions are: to make suitable arrangements throughout Bangladesh on a commercial basis, for the procurement, transport, storage and distribution to agriculturists of essential supplies such as seed, fertilisers, plant protection equipments, pesticides, and agricultural machinery and implements. to promote the setting up of co-operative societies with a view to handing over to them its supply functions in accordance with phased programmes. to encourage the development of co-operative societies in other spheres in which the Corporation is interested. to take over and manage seed multiplication and livestock breeding farms and fruit nurseries. and to assist, encourage and promote the manufacture of improved agricultural machinery and implements.
