চীনা উইকিপিডিয়া প্রথম পরিচিতি পায় চায়না কম্পিউটার শিক্ষা নামক পত্রিকার ২০ অক্টোবর,২০০৩ সংখ্যার একটি নিবন্ধ প্রকাশের মাধ্যমে। নিবন্ধটি এরূপ ছিল, (আমি বিশ্বকোষ লিখতে যোগদান করেছি) ১৬মে, ২০০৪সনে উইকিপিডিয়া প্রথম প্রতিবেদন আকারে প্রকাশ করা হয় তাইওয়ানের পত্রিকা চায়না টাইমে । এর পর বিভিন্ন পত্রিকা চীনা উইকিপিডিয়া নিয়ে নিবন্ধ ও সংবাদ প্রকাশ করে। বিভিন্ন প্রশাসকের সাক্ষাত্কার নেয়া হয়।

Wikipedia was first introduced by the mainland Chinese media in the newspaper China Computer Education on October 20, 2003, in the article, On May 16, 2004, Wikipedia was first reported by Taiwanese media in the newspaper China Times. Since then, many newspapers have published articles about the Chinese Wikipedia, and several sysops have been interviewed by journalists.
