The organization of the exhibits makes it possible to trace distinctions and categories of costume which developed during the Ottoman occupation of Greece, and which relate to its social structures (secular and religious costumes), class stereotypes (the aristocrats, the bourgeoisie, the peasants) and even the various trades and professions (e.g. the military, the merchants, sailors, fishermen, dancers etc.).
