We spent the rest of the afternoon working our way back across La Janda, watching Kingfishers and Stripe-necked Terrapins on a tributary of the Río Barbate, Kestrels soaring and diving incessantly under the afternoon sun, and enjoying more of the big birds, binoculars pressed tight and nothing but the sound of bees and bull-frogs in our ears.

Pasamos el resto de la tarde volviendo a través de La Janda, viendo a Martines pescadores y tortugas de agua dulce en un afluente del río Barbate, Cernícalos vulgares elevándose y cayendo en picado incesantemente bajo el sol del atardecer; y disfrutamos un poco más de los pájaros grandes, con los prismáticos pegados a los ojos y sin más ruido que el de las abejas y las ranas en nuestros oídos.
