One such side-road is the narrow one that leads to the Loja Municipal Landfill. This road turns off to the east just north of the toll-gate en route between Catamayo and Loja, passes through a small area of montane scrub until it comes abruptly to the landfill area; a handful of interesting Tumbesian specialties—many of which are the same species as those found at Catamayo—can be recorded here, with opportunities to see some others: Burrowing Owl, Purple-collared Woodstar, Elegant Crescentchest, Superciliated Wren, Tumbes Sparrow, among them.

Uno de esos lugares es la angosta vía que lleva al relleno sanitario de la ciudad de Loja. Esta vía sigue hacia el este, justo al norte de la estación de peaje entre Catamayo y Loja, pasando por un pequeño parque de matorral montano, hasta llegar abruptamente hasta el área del relleno sanitario. Aquí se observan un puñado de especies únicas tumbesinas – la mayoría de las cuales también se puede encontrar en Catamayo – y otras de interés: Búho Terrestre, Estrellita Gargantillada, Pecholuna Elegante, Soterrey Cejón, Sabanero de Tumbes, entre otras especies.
