However , according to the " Nihonshoki " ( Chronicles of Japan ) the Emperor Kimmei died in 571 , his funeral ritual was given in Furuichi , in Kawachi and he was buried in the Hinokumaskaairyou , but there is a theory that the Misemaruyama Kofun is not located in the Hinokuma district , and also in " Nihonshoki " it is recorded that the Kimmei Mausoleum was covered with stones and the ground level was raised , but there is no trace of fukiishi ( a layer of stone covering the soil over a burial mound ) .

しかし 『 日本 書紀 』 で は 、 57 1 年 ( 欽明 32 ) に 没 し 、 河内 の 古市 で 殯 ( もがり ) が いとな ま れ 、 檜 隈 坂合 陵 ( ひの くまさか あ い りょう ) に 葬 ら れ た と さ れ て い る の で 欽明 陵 は 桧隈 の 地 に あ る こと に な っ て い る が 、 見瀬 丸山 古墳 は 桧隈 の 地 に あ る と 言え な い と の 説 が あ り 、 もう ひと つ 『 日本 書紀 』 に は 628 年 に 欽明 陵 に 石 を 葺 き 、 盛り土 を し た と の 記録 が あ る が 、 見瀬 丸山 古墳 に は 石 を 葺 い た 形跡 は 見 られ な い 。
