This was the beginning of the Toyohashi Gion Festival. The reason this festival flourished as the eve of the Mikoshitogyo of the regular festival is because of the launching of fireworks in which black powder permitted only in restricted regions, the same gunpowder that was used in the Edo Period. According to documents left at the shrine, Oharabizen no kami(the governor of Ohara Bizen), the keeper of Yoshida Castle of Imagawa Yoshimoto, dedicated the fireworks to the Yoshida Shrine in the first year of the Eiroku Period (1558).

본제사가 되는 신위 가마 행차의 전야제로 번창하게 된 것이 에도시대에 극히 한정된 지역에만 취급이 하락된 흑색 화약을 사용한 불꽃놀이의 방양입니다. 신사에 남은 문헌에 의하면 에이로쿠 원년(1558)에 이마가와 요시모토의 요시다성대(성주를 대신하여 성을 지키는 사람) 오하라 비젠노쿠니의 요시다신사에의 봉납에 시작된다고 되어 있으며 이것이「수통 불꽃 발상지」로 일컬어지는 이유입니다.
