To him, the thoughts within his brain were not the more or less abstract pictures of actual things and processes, but, conversely, things and their evolution were only the realized pictures of the "Idea", existing somewhere from eternity before the world was. This way of thinking turned everything upside down, and completely reversed the actual connection of things in the world. Correctly and ingeniously as many groups of facts were grasped by Hegel, yet, for the reasons just given, there is much that is botched, artificial, labored, in a word, wrong in point of detail.

즉 그가 보기에는 우리 두뇌의 관념이 많든 적든 현실의 사물과 과정의 추상적인 반영이 아니라, 오히려 사물과 그것의 발전이란 다만 이미 세계가 생겨나기 전에 어딘가 존재하고 있던 '이념'이라는 것이 현실화하여 반영된 것에 지나지 않았다. 그리하여 모든 것이 머리로(거꾸로) 세워졌고, 세계 현상의 현실적 연관이 헤겔에 의해 아무리 정확하게 또 천재적으로 파악되었다 해도 그의 체계의 세세한 부분에서는, 앞에서 말한 이유 때문에 마찬가지로 아전 인수 격이고 인공적이며 허구적인 것으로, 한마디로 말하면 왜곡된 것으로 될 수밖에 없는 점이 많이 있었다.
