إن قرار اللجنة الثلاثية المشتركة بين حكومة سيراليون، والجبهة المتحدة الثورية، وبعثة الأمم المتحدة في سيراليون، في اجتماعها المنعقد بتاريخ 2 حزيران/يونيه، والقاضي بالبدء بنزع السلاح في مقاطعة كونو وكذلك في مقاطعة بونتي التي تسيطر عليها قوات الدفاع المدني جاء ردا على ذلك التطور الذي لم يكن متوقعا كما قلت.

The decision of the joint tripartite committee of the Government of Sierra Leone, the RUF and UNAMSIL, at its meeting of 2 June, to commence disarmament in the Kono district, and to associate with Kono the Bonthe district for the CDF, had to be in response to that development, which as I said, was unforeseen.
