Since this project was announced, El Charco and other civil organizations in San Miguel opposed the location of the industrial park (not the polygon itself but its location), for very simple reasons: it is an area of recharge of the aquifer, a natural depression prone to flooding and a basin that brings rainwater to the city of San Miguel, through the Landeta stream, the Las Colonias dam in the Charco del Ingenio canyon, the Obraje dam and the Cachinches stream.

Desde que fue anunciado este proyecto, El Charco y otras organizaciones civiles de San Miguel se opusieron a la ubicación del polígono industrial (no al polígono en sí, sino a su ubicación), por razones muy simples: es un área de recarga del acuífero, una depresión natural proclive a inundaciones y una cuenca que trae el agua pluvial hacia la ciudad de San Miguel, a través del arroyo Landeta, la presa Las Colonias el cañón del Charco del Ingenio, la presa del Obraje y el arroyo Cachinches.
