Modern Catalan cuisine is admired all over the world because of generous doses of innovation it has incorporated while still retaining the identity conferred by so many years of tradition. Internationally-famous Catalan chefs include Ferran Adrià (1962), who reinvented cooking in his restaurant El Bulli, with three Michelin stars; Carme Ruscalleda (1952), who in her Sant Pau restaurant in Sant Pol de Mar creates a traditional yet modern cuisine which has earned her two Michelin stars, and Santi Santamaria (1957), who has been awarded three Michelin stars and four red forks for his Can Fabes establishment.

La cocina catalana actual es valorada en todo el mundo por las grandes dosis de innovación con las que ha conseguido actualizarse sin perder la identidad de tantos años de tradición, y se ha proyectado a nivel internacional gracias a nombres tan reconocidos como los de Ferran Adrià (1962), que ha reinventado la cocina en el restaurante El Bullireconocido con tres estrellas Michelin; Carme Ruscalleda (1952), que desde el restaurante Sant Pau de Sant Pol de Mar hace una cocina tradicional y a la vez moderna que le ha valido dos estrellas Michelin, y Santi Santamaria (1957), que cuenta con tres estrellas y cuatro tenedores rojos Michelin para su Racó de Can Fabes.
