I have a lot of good friends in law enforcement, people I’ve known for years and, in some cases, for most of my life. I have friends who are cops and prosecutors, friends who work for federal agencies, for the courts and for the judicial system. My undergraduate degree is in Criminal Justice and, at one point, I seriously considered a career in law enforcement myself. The reason I bring this up first is so people don’t think I’m cop-bashing with what I’m about to say. Sadly, there are always a few hero-worship types who make having a rational discussion on anything having to do with people “”in uniform”” virtually impossible...
