The petition says that on January 14, 1992 the anatomical pathologist of the Forensic Services Bureau of the Judicial Branch of the Province of Buenos Aires reported that the exhibits received were inadequate for carrying out the orders of the Court (determine the entry and exit wounds of the projectile that caused the death of the young Santillán) because the skin fragments had dried out in advance and the lungs were in an advanced state of decomposition, due to lack of precautions for the conservation of the samples after they were taken from the corpse, which prevented the determination of the existence of traumatic lesions.

La petición señala que el 14 de enero de 1992 el especialista anatomopatólogo de la Dirección General de Asesorías Periciales del Poder Judicial de la Provincia de Buenos Aires informó que el material recibido no servía para dar cumplimiento a lo ordenado por el Juez (determinar el orificio de entrada y de salida del proyectil que ocasionó la muerte del joven Santillán) pues los fragmentos de piel habían sido resecados con anterioridad y los pulmones se encontraban en avanzado estado de putrefacción, debido a la falta de precauciones en la conservación de las muestras luego de que estas fueron extraídas al cadáver, impidiendo determinar la existencia de lesiones traumáticas.
