States should also ensure that psychosocial support and trauma counselling are addressed as core components of transitional justice, emphasizing their central importance for repairing the social contract — i.e., the relationship between the State and the individual — and social cohesion — i.e., relationships of individuals with one another — after periods of protracted violence and/or oppression.
