Αυτά σε συνδυασμό με το υψηλό συμβόλαιο που ζήτησε για τη νέα σεζόν τον έκαναν να φύγει ως πρωταθλητής από τον ΠΑΟΚ και να επιστρέψει στις αρχές του 1980 στην Θεσσαλονίκη για τον ΠΑΟΚ.
