في القرار 58/144 شجعت الجمعية العامة رؤساء الإدارات والمكاتب على مواصلة اختيار مرشحات من النساء حين تكون مؤهلاتهن مساوية لمؤهلات الرجال أو أفضل منها وأن يشجع ويرصد ويقيم على نحو فعال أداء المديرين بالنسبة لتحقيق الأهداف المتمثلة في تحسين تمثيل المرأة.

In its resolution 58/144, the General Assembly strongly encouraged heads of departments and offices to continue selecting female candidates when their qualifications were the same as, or better than, those of male candidates, and to effectively encourage, monitor, and assess the performance of managers in meeting targets for improving women’s representation.

En su resolución 58/144, la Asamblea General alentó firmemente a los jefes de departamentos y oficinas a que siguieran escogiendo candidatas cuando sus calificaciones fueran iguales o superiores a las de los candidatos, y alentaran efectivamente a los administradores a que alcanzaran las metas fijadas para el aumento de la representación de la mujer y vigilaran y evaluaran el grado en que las habían alcanzado.

В своей резолюции 58/144 Генеральная Ассамблея решительно призвала руководителей департаментов и управлений продолжать отбирать кандидатов-женщин, когда они по квалификации равны кандидатам-мужчинам или превосходят их, и эффективно поощрять, контролировать и оценивать успехи руководителей в деле достижения целевых показателей повышения представленности женщин.
