وفي هذا الصدد، تعتقد بلادي أنه كان من حقها الشرعي أن تتخذ جميع التدابير اللازمة لمواجهة العدوان المسلح بموجب المادة 51 من ميثاق الأمم المتحدة، بما في ذلك طلب المساعدة من الدول الأعضاء في الجماعة الإنمائية للجنوب الأفريقي عن طريق ممارسة الحق الطبيعي لتلك الدول في الدفاع عن النفس الفردي والجماعي.

In this respect, my Government believes that it was within its legitimate rights to take all necessary measures to meet the armed aggression in accordance with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, including seeking assistance from the States members of the Southern Africa Development Community by invoking their natural right to collective and individual self-defence.
