This study concerns only a part of the existing medieval seals of the National Archive of Torre do Tombo and a restricted number of seal impressions and matrices from other sources. The study also presents a varied number of errors and inaccuracies, and does not comply with the international inventorying and cataloguing criteria defined since 1990 by the Vocabulaire International de la Sigillographie (Rome, 1990).

Nous possédons seulement, en tant qu’essai plus élargi de catalogage, des sceaux médiévaux conservés aux Archives Nationales Torre do Tombo et un nombre réduit d’empreintes et de matrices sigillaires d’autres provenances, et qui présente des erreurs et des imprécisions variées, n’étant pas du tout d’accord avec les critères d’inventaire et de catalogage internationaux définis, depuis 1990, par le Vocabulaire International de la Sigillographie (Rome, 1990).
