وحث الدول الحائزة للأسلحة النووية على أن تُجري، بحسن نية، مفاوضات تؤدي إلى نزع السلاح النووي، واستكمال تلك المفاوضات، تحقيقا لما عليها من التزام بموجب المادة السادسة من المعاهدة، وهو التزام أكَّدته الفتوى التي أصدرتها محكمة العدل الدولية في 8 تموز/يوليه 1996.

He urged the nuclear-weapon States to pursue in good faith and bring to conclusion negotiations leading to nuclear disarmament in fulfilment of their obligation under article VI of the Treaty, an obligation confirmed by the advisory opinion of 8 July 1996 of the International Court of Justice.
