Die Erfindung geht aus von einem Verfahren zur Herstellung von Phosgen durch Umsetzung von Kohlenmonoxid mit einer Chlor-übertragenden Kontaktmasse, enthaltend Kupfer(II)-Chlorid oder anderes Metallchlorid hoher Oxidationsstufe, wobei Phosgen und Kupfer(I)-Chlorid oder Metallchlorid niedriger Oxidationsstufe gebildet werden.

The invention relates to a method for producing phosgene by converting carbon monoxide with a contact mass transferring chlorine, comprising copper(II) chloride or another metal chloride of a higher oxidation stage, wherein phosgene and copper(I) chloride or metal chloride of a lower oxidation stage are formed.
