The locations of the other springs near the center of the study area can be explained with the locations and properties of the till formations. These thicker till formation hill beneath peat were situated parallel with the groundwater flow direction and blocked the flow. The low hydraulic conductivity of till forces the water to flow vertically towards the peatland surface.
