At the Lusaka Summit in June # at which I was appointed to head the organization, the African leaders charged me with the important mission of ensuring the transition from the OAU to the African Union and with setting up its principal organs- the Assembly, the Council, the Commission and the ambassadorial Committee charged with translating this reform into reality
