Luego de regresar a Costa Rica en 1983, ingresó en la carrera de Administración de Negocios y trabajó para organismos como CARE Internacional, Comité de Ayuda de la Iglesia Cristiana Reformada, Visión Mundial Internacional y la Unidad Conjunta ACNUR/PNUD de Apoyo a CIREFCA de las Naciones Unidas, tanto en el área administrativa como contable.
