وفرض التنظيم على المسيحيين والصابئة اعتناق الإسلام أو دفع الجزية وإلا طُردوا أو قُتلوا؛ أما الشيعة، فيُجبرون على التوبة أو يتعرضون لعقوبات (تشمل الإعدام) باعتبارهم مهرطقين؛ ويُكرَه اليزيديون والكاكائيون وأفراد الطوائف الدينية الأخرى (الذين يعُدُّهم التنظيم كفاراً) على أن يعتنقوا الإسلام أو يُقتلون.

ISIL has imposed on Christians and Sabaeans the requirement to convert to Islam, pay jezyah (a protection or toleration tax), be expelled or be killed; for Shias to repent or face penalties (including death) as apostates; and for Yezidi, Kaka’ee and other faith communities (which ISIL regard as infidels) to convert to Islam or be killed.

El EIIL ha impuesto a los miembros de la comunidad cristiana y sabea el requisito de convertirse al islam y pagar la jezyah (un impuesto de protección o tolerancia), so pena de ser expulsados o asesinados; a los de la comunidad chiíta el de arrepentirse o exponerse a penas (incluida la de muerte) por apostasía; y a los de las comunidades yazidi, kakaí y otras comunidades religiosas (consideradas infieles por el EIIL) las opciones de convertirse al islam o morir.
