The results of six clinical trials in Africa have confirmed the benefits of a preventive treatment for malaria with sulphadoxine-pyrimethamine (known as IPTi: “intermittent preventive treatment of malaria in infants”). Published in The Lancet, this is the largest study to date of the effects of the IPTi strategy, which is already recommended by the WHO.

Los resultados de seis ensayos clínicos en África confirman los beneficios de un tratamiento preventivo intermitente de la malaria ( IPTi , en sus siglas inglesas) con sulfadoxina- pirimetamina , según el estudio más amplio hecho hasta ahora y publicado en The Lancet para estudiar los efectos de esta estrategia, que ya forma parte de las recomendaciones de la OMS.
