Die Symbole der weihnachtlichen Feiern, die durch die Lesungen und die Gebete ins Gedächtnis gerufen werden, geben der Liturgie dieser Zeit einen tiefen Sinn der »Epiphanie« Gottes in seinem Christus, dem menschgewordenen Wort, also des »Offenbarwerdens«, das auch einen eschatologischen, das heißt auf die Endzeit ausgerichteten Sinn besitzt.

The symbols of the Christmas celebrations, recalled by the Readings and by the prayers, give to the Liturgy of this Season a profound sense of the “epiphany” of God in his Christ-Word Incarnate, namely his “manifestation”, which also possesses an eschatological meaning, in other words which orients us to the last times.
