When fighting Wang Chin-yu, we were between the two enemy forces under Tsai Ting-kai and Kuo Hua-tsung, some ten li from the latter and forty li from the former, and some people said we were "getting into a blind alley", but we got through all the same. This was mainly due to the popular support we enjoyed in the base area and to the lack of co-ordination among the enemy units.

Cuando atacábamos a Wang Chin-yu, nos encontrábamos entre las unidades de Tsai Ting-kai y las de Kuo Jua-tsung, a unos diez li de éstas y a unos cuarenta li de aquéllas. Algunos dijeron que nos estábamos "metiendo en un callejón sin salida", pero logramos pasar. Esto se debió principalmente a que operábamos en nuestra base de apoyo y, además, a que no hubo coordinación entre las unidades enemigas.
