In Indian tradition it is said that knowledge can neither be taxed, nor can it be stolen, neither can it be divided among siblings, it only increases by spending and sharing, therefore wealth of the knowledge is the best among all types of wealth.

அறிவாற்றலுக்கு யாரும் வரி போட முடியாது. அதைத் திருடிக் கொண்டு போகவும் முடியாது. உடன் பிறந்தோருடன் அதைப் பங்கு போட்டுக் கொள்ளவும் முடியாது. அதைச் செலவிடுவதன் மூலமும், மற்றவர்களோடு பகிர்ந்து கொள்வதன் மூலமே அது மென்மேலும் அதிகரிக்கும். எனவே கல்விச் செல்வம் என்பது, மற்றெந்த செல்வங்களையும் விட மிகச் சிறந்தது என்பதே நமது இந்தியாவின் பாரம்பரியமாக நமக்குச் சொல்லப்பட்டு வந்துள்ளது.
