After praising «the acumen and the originality of this most novel interpretation of the antique Contrasto», Monsignor Sciacca concludes his preface as follows: «Therefore we recommend the reading of this essay to literary people to inform them of marital canon law [...]; but we also recommend it to canonists, judges and lawyers, so that they too may become a little literary, beginning with a most desirable mastery of the language, secure and convincing, and so that they may become ever more capable of catching – as literary people have the knack – the infinite subtleties of reality and, especially, of the human mind, whereby to bring them back within the necessary canons of legality, without trivializing or abusing them». Tras elogiar «la agudeza y originalidad de esta nueva interpretación del antiguo Contrasto», monseñor Sciacca termina así su introducción: «Recomendamos, por tanto, la lectura de este ensayo del profesor Villeggiante a los literatos para que no ignoren el derecho canónico matrimonial [...]; pero también lo aconsejamos a los canonistas, jueces y abogados, para que sean también ellos un poco literatos, partiendo de un dominio de la lengua, seguro y convincente, y para que cada vez sean más capaces de captar –como saben hacer los literatos– los infinitos matices de la realidad y, sobre todo, del alma humana, con el fin de encauzarlos, sin banalizarlos o abusar de ellos, dentro de los necesarios cánones de la juricidad».
