وتعكس مضخة الذوبانيّة مدى توقف ذوبانيّة غاز ثاني أُكسيد الكربون على درجات الحرارة، إذ تزيد قابلية هذا الغاز للذوبان في المياه الباردة، وعلى الطبقات الحرارية للمحيطات.
