والشئ المضحك أنه اشترى لي بعض الورود الحمراء، ولكنه لم يلاحظ عند شرائها، ربما لانفعاله، أن الزهور كانت مبلولة، وقد أمسك بها بإحكام ملصقاً إياها بصدره.

The funny thing is he’d brought me some red roses but when he’d purchased them, he didn’t notice, perhaps out of excitement, that the flowers were wet and he’d been holding them tightly to his chest.

Ce qui est drôle, c'est qu'il m'avait apporté des roses rouges mais que, lorsqu'il les avait achetées, il n'avait pas remarqué – peut-être à cause de l'excitation – qu'elles étaient mouillées et il les avait tenues serrées contre lui.
