وخلال الفترة المشمولة بهذا التقرير (1997)، استحدثت حكومة سانت فنسنت وجزر غرينادين تقديم معاشات تقاعدية غير قائمة على دفع الاشتراكات لمساعدة كبار السن من خلال خدمات التأمين الوطنية، وذلك للأشخاص غير القادرين على دفع الاشتراكات إلى خدمات التأمين الوطنية بسبب كبر سنهم، ولكنهم كانوا أعضاء في صندوق التكافل الوطني الذي سبق إنشاء خدمات التأمين الوطنية.

During the present Reporting period (1997) the Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines introduced a Non-contributory Assistance Age Pension (NAAP) through the NIS For persons who could not have contributed to the NIS because of their Age, but who were members of the National Provident Fund the precursor to the NIS.
