岩国 の 観光 名所 で あ る 錦 帯 橋 、 この 名 は 創建 当時 に 名付け られ た もの で は な く 、 1706 年 に 遯庵 が 記 し た 「 極楽 寺 亭子 記 」 の 記述 の 中 に 「 これ を 凸凹 と い う は 模様 の 似 た る を も っ て なり 。 また 錦帯 橋 と い う 。 錦見 の 里 に 近 き を も っ て なり 。 」 と い う 部分 が あ り 、 これ が 錦帯 橋 の 記録 に おけ る 初見 で あ る 。
