وقال إن لجنة أمريكا الوسطى المعنية بالبيئة والتنمية، والأمانة الدائمة للمعاهدة العامة بشأن التكامل الاقتصادي لأمريكا الوسطى، والهيئات الإقليمية المسؤولة عن المسائل المتعلقة بالبيئة والتنمية والتكامل الاقتصادي، اقترحت سلسلة من الاتفاقات بشأن التنوع البيولوجي والنفايات الخطرة والغابات، ومن بينها الاتفاقية المتعلقة بحفظ التنوع البيولوجي وحماية المناطق البرية ذات الأولوية في أمريكا الوسطى، والاتفاقية الإقليمية المتعلقة بنقل النفايات السمية عبر الحدود، والاتفاقية الإقليمية المتعلقة بالغابات، واتفاقية أمريكا الوسطى بشأن تغير المناخ.

The Central American Commission on Environment and Development (CCAD) and the Permanent Secretariat of the General Treaty on Central American Economic Integration (SIECA), regional bodies with responsibility for matters relating to the environment, development and economic integration, had proposed a series of agreements on biodiversity, hazardous waste and forests, including the Convention on the conservation of biodiversity and protection of priority wilderness areas in Central America, the regional Convention on transboundary movements of toxic waste, the regional Convention on forests and the Central American Convention on climate change.

Por lo demás, la Comisión Centroamericana de Ambiente y Desarrollo (CCAD) así como la Secretaría Permanente del Tratado General de Integración Económica Centroamericana (SIECA), entidades regionales encargadas del medio ambiente, el desarrollo y la integración económica, han propuesto una serie de acuerdos sobre la diversidad biológica, los residuos peligrosos y los bosques. Se trata, entre otros instrumentos, del Convenio para la Conservación de la Biodiversidad y Protección de Áreas Silvestres Prioritarias en Centroamérica, el Convenio Regional sobre el Movimiento Transfronterizo de Desechos Tóxicos, el Convenio Regional de Bosques y el Convenio Centroamericano sobre Cambio Climático.
