It reminds one of a couplet by Bahadur Shah Zafar, the last Moghul emperor and a fine poet, who wrote with extreme poignancy: Upon the tomb of our poor neither is there any light nor any flower 'Neither appears there a moth to burn itself on the lamp nor is there the doleful warbling of the nightingale.

उसे देखकर अंतिम मुगल सम्राट बहादुर शाह जफर की अत्यंत मर्मस्पर्शी पंक्तिया याद आ जाती हैः हम गरीबों की मज़ार पर न कोई शमा जलाता हैः न कोई फूल चढ़ाता हैः न शमा पर जलने के लिए कोई परवाना आता हैः न कोई बुलबुल दर्द भरा तराना छेडंती है।
