I would like to talk to you about the changing role of the IMF in Asia and in the world economy. But I'd like to begin with a few words on change and continuity. These thoughts are suggested by the two events that we have just witnessed: the conferring of the honorary fellowship on Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, and the award of prizes to these extraordinary students for the essay competition.
