It all begins in the nineteenth century when Edoardo Canali establishes the maritime Insurance Companies: SAVOIA - UNIONE CONTINENTALE - CASSA NAVALE & D’ASSICURAZIONE, flanked by the Steamship Company "LLOYD SABAUDO", also founded by Edoardo Canali to coordinate the Genoa, Turin and Milan branches. Thanks to the experience achieved in the shipping and insurance sector and the development of the insurance division for goods in transit, in the Thirties the company obtains the “Committee on general average” and becomes sole representative for several prestigious Japanese, American and Scandinavian insurance companies.
