In it, we proposed to build on the long tradition of respect for international law on which rest the relations between the American States, to organize more systematically our work and that of the Inter-American Juridical Committee, to enable the Organization to maximize its potential and comparative advantages, and to work more actively in what could be its most significant contribution to the integration of the Americas.

Allí hemos propuesto retomar la larga tradición de respeto al derecho internacional sobre la que están cimentadas las relaciones entre los Estados americanos; ordenar de manera sistemática nuestro trabajo y el del Comité Jurídico Interamericano; preparar la Organización para aprovechar sus potencialidades y ventajas comparativas; y trabajar de manera más activa, en lo que puede ser su más significativa contribución a la integración de las Américas.
