All of the Apache Software Foundation's software and projects, such as the Apache HTTP Server, use this license.[1] Some software that is not made by the Apache Software Foundation also use this license rather than trying to create another type of license on their own. In May 2008, Google said that 25.8 percent of software projects hosted on Google Code used this license.[5]

Det finns även mjukvara som inte är utvecklat av ASF som ligger under licensen. I oktober 2012 fanns det 8 708 Apachelicensierade projekt på SourceForge.net. I ett blogginlägg från maj 2008 berättade Google att 25 000 av 100 000 projekt registrerade på Google Code använde sig av Apachelicensen.[2] Ett av de 25 000 projekten var Android.[3]
