Unanswered appeals follow one after the other, first of all the call of Pope Francis for a truce and for the creation of humanitarian corridors. The Holy Father has also recalled “the praiseworthy efforts of those countries, especially Lebanon and Jordan, that have generously welcomed many Syrian refugees” (from the January 13, 2014 Address to the Diplomatic Corps); and next May he will go the Middle East himself to show his support for peace initiatives in that suffering region.

Se subsiguen las peticiones, en primera línea la de Papa Francisco, para una tregua y para abrir los corredores humanitarios, El Santo Padre recordó “el grande esfuerzo de aquellos Países, sobretodo el Líbano y la Jordania, que con generosidad han recibido en el propio territorio numerosos prófugos de Siria”(desde el discurso al Cuerpo Diplomático del 13 de enero 2014) y él mismo irá al Medio Oriente el Próximo mayo para sostener cada esfuerzo para la paz en esa región tan maltratada.
