The pi-sigma-pi-isomerization of terminal pi-allyl complexes is a decisive limiting factor of the synthesis of (Z)-configured substitution products and is to a great extent an unsolved problem in the palladium catalyzed allylic alkylation due to the isomerization of the cis-configured double bond to the thermodynamically favoured trans-double bond.
