ولا يسع اللجنة إلا أن تعرب عن توقها الشديد إلى أن ترى الهدنة الهشة التي توصلت إليها الجماعات المسلحة الفلسطينية الرئيسية تفضي إلى اتخاذ المزيد من تدابير بناء الثقة وتمهيد الطريق أمام السلام وإفساح المجال لقيام مفاوضات بشأن المسائل الجوهرية بين بلدان الجوار التي ستربح الكثير من الاتفاق على نمط للتعايش يحظى بقبول الجميع.

The Committee can only express its fervent hopes that the fragile truce agreed upon by major Palestinian armed groups will lead to more confidence-building measures and to a kind of prelude to peace, leaving room for negotiations on matters of substance between neighbours which have more to gain from agreeing upon a commonly accepted modus vivendi.

Комитет может лишь искренне надеяться на то, что шаткое перемирие, объявленное основными палестинскими вооруженными группами, приведет к принятию дальнейших мер по укреплению доверия и станет своего рода прелюдией к установлению мира, а также позволит обсудить в ходе переговоров вопросы существа в отношениях между соседями, которые только выиграют от нахождения взаимоприемлемого варианта сосуществования.
