본 발명은 화학식 1로 표시되는 N1-2-티오펜-2-일에틸-N2-치환된 바이구아나이드 유도체 또는 그의 약학적으로 허용가능한 염, 이의 제조방법 및 이를 유효성분으로 함유하는 약학 조성물에 관한 것으로, 본 발명의 N1-2-티오펜-2-일에틸-N2-치환된 바이구아나이드 유도체는 기존 약물에 비해 적은 복용량으로도 우수한 혈당강하 작용과 지질저하 작용을 나타내어 당뇨병, 인슐린 비의존성 당뇨병, 비만 및 동맥 경화 등의 대사성 증후군, 또는 유전자 P53이 결여된 암의 예방 및 치료에 유용하게 이용될 수 있다.
