وبعد الاتفاق المتعلق بالبرنامج المشترك للعودة الاختيارية للاجئين الأفغان الذي توصلت إليه مفوضية الأمم المتحدة السامية لشؤون اللاجئين وحكومة جمهورية إيران الإسلامية، استؤنفت العودة الاختيارية من ذلك البلد بأعداد كبيرة مقارنة بالسنوات الماضية.
