These minorities are also the victims of a generalized social intolerance, particularly among people in rural areas who are strongly attached to their own religion but who have no sense of respect for other religions. This reflects the direct fallout of State policies towards minorities, the historical events described above, and the negative impact of some of the media, which have continued to promote a message of intolerance towards the Christian minorities
